A research institute based within Oxford Brookes University has been awarded a grant of £780,000 in order to support the development of research capability and capacity of the Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professions workforce.
They share a joint vision of developing high quality clinical academics from the nursing, midwifery and allied health profession (NMAHP), through the provision of a sustainable infrastructure of mentorship, training and career development.
The grant, from OUHT, will enable the partnership to expand its high-quality clinical research, which will improve patient outcomes, deliver evidence-based care, and improve recruitment and retention of staff and students.
Professor Paul Carding, Director of OxINMAHR, said:
“This grant provides a very exciting opportunity for our partnership to build a sustainable, high quality healthcare research environment. Our core goal is to produce world-class research that will have practical benefits for health and social care delivery and clinical practice”.
Professor Helen Walthall, Director of Nursing and Midwifery Research at OUHT said:
“Both organisations recognise the economic, health and social care, and educational benefits of a collaborative research environment. This grant will enable the partnership to embed research into both organisations which will improve patient outcomes, deliver evidence-based care, as well as improve recruitment and retention of staff and students across the sector.”
