Arc Universities

Monica Grady, Professor of Planetary and Space Sciences at The Open University (OU) was filmed this year about what the OU brings to the Arc as Space lead.

Space Science at the OU is unique and world leading and works closely with the UK Space Agency (UKSA), the European Space Agency (ESA) and other national space agencies, universities, research centres and industry around the world to develop instrumentation and concepts for breakthrough space science missions.

 

The cutting-edge technology this develops to unlock the secrets of the universe is also applied to practical challenges here on Earth from cancer testing to food security. Its work includes: Analytical Instrumentation, Space Imaging, Earth and Environmental Science, Lunar and Planetary Science, Astrobiology and Microgravity. It is also a partner in SPRINT, a £4.8 million programme involving five leading universities to support SMEs to commercially exploit technologies, data and expertise developed for space.
