There is a sense of excitement across the region as The Arc for Space initiative gathering pace. COP26 has highlighted the vital importance of observing our changing world from space and how satellite data plays a critical role in underpinning climate policy.
This short film has been created together with the Department of International Trade, the Arc Leadership Group, and the LEPs across the Oxford-Cambridge Arc. It highlights the innovation, research, industry capability and investment that is shaping this valuable UK sector.
There are huge opportunities to develop new collaborations and innovations across academia and industry, generating new businesses and supply chains along the way. The Oxford to Cambridge Arc is home to a cluster of space companies ar Harwell, with advanced proposals to develop Westcott Venture Park in Buckinghamshire as a centre of excellence for research and development in rocket propulsion.
The combined result will be the most intensive space cluster in Europe, supporting small satellite launch facilities in Scotland and Cornwall. We have all the ingredients to deliver a significant growth in the UK space sector – it’s time to make it happen!
