An autonomous shuttle will transport passengers around Harwell Science and Innovation Campus for a trial funded by the UK Space Agency and ESA (The European Space Agency).

The new service is being trialled by Darwin Innovation Group, with support from the European Space Agency (ESA) and the UK Space Agency. Professor Tim Morris of University of Oxford sits on Darwin’s advisory board. An autonomous shuttle will transport passengers around Harwell Science and Innovation Campus in Oxfordshire, which is home to some of the UK’s most innovative companies and research organisations.

Darwin, which is based at Harwell, explores ways to combine terrestrial and satellite communications, with the goal of ubiquitous communications across the world. It uses connected and autonomous vehicles (CAVs) to demonstrate what it’s achieved.
