At this year’s Women in Stem Festival, Cambridge’s Professor Deborah Prentice and Oxford’s Professor Irene Tracey revealed their plans to develop greater collaboration across the two historic universities.
This includes advancing the cause of women in STEM. Steps are set to include forging links between women in science at both universities – particularly the physical sciences in which women are most in a minority.
The Women in STEM Festival took place on 26 and 27 October 2023, and featured an array of eminent and inspiring speakers, drawn from the worlds of academia, industry, education and politics. A capacity audience in the College’s Paula Browne House conference centre heard the latest research in subjects from astrophysics to zoology, together with lively debates on how best to address the barriers that still prevent girls and women from fulfilling their potential in many STEM areas from school and university to the workplace.
