At last week’s Green Infrastructure Conference, the Open University hosted an event looking at different energy sources including Waste and Hydrogen. The online event outlined the challenges of decarbonising our current energy economy and looked at how we create a new net zero energy economy?
Dr Tarek Rashwan sat on the panel and is one of the OU academic leads for The Sustainable Processes Linked for an Integrated Circular Economy (SPLICE).
“We are developing new technologies for converting waste to energy and for water treatment. This research addresses the harsh reality that fledging waste management systems worldwide cannot keep up with our waste volumes and over one billion people cannot access safe drinking water. As a result, millions die every year due to preventable causes.”
