AUG Board member Professor Dame Karen Holford, Vice-Chancellor and CEO of Cranfield University, has represented the vital role of UK universities at the House of Commons.
Giving evidence to the Science, Innovation and Technology Committee, chaired by Chi Onwurah MP, Dame Karen highlighted the impact of the recent Budget on university research and development. She underscored that “universities are the engines of economic growth,” with a core role not only in driving the economy through new technologies and investments but also in delivering essential skills.
Dame Karen’s insights reinforced how universities are uniquely positioned to foster growth through collaborative research that makes a real difference for communities, industries, and the future of the UK.
