Arc Universities

There has been a lot of talk about the Oxford-Cambridge Arc. But what do students think?

The Arc Universities Group (AUG), made up of nine universities across the Oxford-Cambridge Arc, has brought nine students from the universities together as a Student Panel. In a series of workshops, where they met guests from business, government and academia, the group has considered a range of questions about the future – both across the Arc region and globally. What kind of a world do they want to inherit?  What are their hopes and fears? What is their view of the future?  There is the aspiration to double the size of the economy of the Oxford -Cambridge Arc region.  Is it really possible? Investment in the economy and an improvement to the natural environment?

This week the AUG hosts a live webinar: The Student Voice: Imagining our Future, where the students will be interviewed by Cranfield University’s Director of Student Experience, Alison Whaley, answering questions including:

  • What will the environment be like?
  • What sort of work opportunities will you have?
  • How will you get around and live?
  • What sort of place would you like to live in?
  • How can a vibrant and healthy community be developed?

The views expressed in the content you’ll hear in the webinar belong to the students themselves, and don’t represent those of their institutions. Join the Student Panel as they discuss what sort of future they see. This webinar will also be the first chance to watch short documentaries highlighting some of the key themes that are important to the students. The aim; to use this project to share what the Student Panel think should happen; and what can be done to make their ideas a reality.

Register for the webinar: Wednesday 27 April 2022 from 2 – 3.30pm
