The Oxford–Cambridge Supercluster Board has welcomed Labour’s Industrial Strategy, calling it a strong step forward in unlocking the full potential of the region’s globally recognised strengths in science, technology, innovation and infrastructure.

In an official response authored by Mike Archer (AstraZeneca) and Andy Williams (Chair of the Supercluster Board), the group praised the strategy’s commitments to R&D, skills, and cluster development—while urging rapid action to ensure delivery matches ambition.

Key priorities identified include:

  • Fast-tracking East West Rail
  • Aligning strategy delivery with the upcoming Devolution Bill
  • Establishing Industrial Strategy Zones focused on life sciences and deep tech
  • Strengthening local delivery and funding mechanisms
  • Accelerating NHS innovation adoption and scale-up support

The Arc Universities Group stands firmly behind this vision. As a coalition of the region’s leading universities, AUG plays a vital role in delivering the talent, research, and innovation needed to bring the strategy to life—helping translate national policy into local, scalable impact.

The message is clear: the Supercluster is ready to work with Government to make the UK a science and innovation superpower—with the Oxford–Cambridge region at its heart.
